Legalization of marriage for UAE
Every year, a large number of couples from the United Arab Emirates – both UAE citizens and expats living there – choose Georgia for their official marriage registration. Getting legally married in the UAE can be extremely difficult due to strict legal, religious, and bureaucratic requirements. Against this background, Georgia offers an ideal solution: you can legally register your marriage here in as little as 1–2 days.
As your private Wedding planner Elina, I will help you organize the entire process so that you can get legally married quickly and without unnecessary stress, receive a complete set of documents, and easily legalize your marital status in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Al Ain. Contact me to discuss the details and book a convenient registration date.
Getting married in Georgia for UAE citizens
Official marriage registration in Georgia is a fast, straightforward, and fully legal way for UAE residents and citizens of the United Arab Emirates to formalize their marriage. Unlike the UAE, where the process may involve strict religious requirements, guardian consent, and numerous supporting documents, Georgian law provides a highly streamlined procedure.
Why couples from the UAE choose Georgia:
- No religious or civil restrictions: Couples of different faiths can get married, and citizens of any country can register their marriage without having to obtain special permission from their home country or the UAE.
- Minimal processing time: The registration process can be completed in less than 24 hours.
- Full legal recognition: Once the Georgian marriage certificate has undergone the required consular legalization, it is legally valid in the UAE and accepted by UAE government authorities, including GDRFA, MOHRE, and financial institutions.
As your Wedding planner Elina, I personally assist you at every stage – from booking your registration date and submitting the application to arranging document translations and obtaining your completed marriage certificate. You only need to fly to Tbilisi for a few days; I will take care of everything else.
Required documents
One of the main advantages of getting married in Georgia is the minimal paperwork required. You do not need to collect certificates of marital status, medical records, or consent from family members.
Only 3 documents are required:
- Valid international passports of both parties (with at least 6 months of validity remaining at the time of travel). Notarized translations of the passports into Georgian will also be required – I will take care of this entirely before your arrival.
- A document confirming the termination of a previous marriage (a divorce certificate or the former spouse’s death certificate), if either partner was previously married. The document must be apostilled or legalized in the country of issue and translated into Georgian.
- Health insurance. This is required for all foreigners entering Georgia. The policy must cover the entire period of your stay in the country and be issued in Georgian or English.
Please also note that you will need two witnesses and their passports to register your marriage. The witnesses can be either Georgian citizens or foreign nationals. If you are traveling to Georgia as a couple, there is no need to worry – I will arrange everything and provide witnesses for your marriage registration.
Marriage registration in Tbilisi for couples from the United Arab Emirates
If your main goal is to legalize your relationship as quickly as possible, without unnecessary complications or bureaucratic delays, express marriage registration in Tbilisi is an ideal solution. This is a straightforward, legally valid civil registration at the House of Justice, perfectly suited to couples with busy schedules who are visiting Georgia for just 1–2 days.
How the process works
- Preparation in advance (remotely): You send me scans of your passports. I arrange notarized translations into Georgian, assist with submitting the application to the House of Justice, and coordinate the exact time of your registration.
- Your wedding day (in Tbilisi): We meet at the House of Justice at the scheduled time. I personally accompany you throughout the process, explain everything you need to know, help resolve any unexpected issues, and provide two witnesses if you are traveling as a couple.
- Document submission and signing: The document submission and signing of the marriage registration certificate takes approximately 20–30 minutes.
- Receiving the original certificate: You receive an official Georgian state-issued marriage certificate.
As a result, you obtain a legally valid marriage in a single visit. Immediately afterwards, the original certificate is submitted for consular legalization for the UAE so that the document is fully recognized in the Emirates.
Can we have a formal wedding ceremony?
Yes, in Georgia, you can hold an official marriage registration with a traditional wedding ceremony.
If you prefer to marry on a weekday, adding an official ceremony to your registration costs +$65. If you choose to host your ceremonial registration on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday), the additional cost is +$120. Ceremonial registrations take place in the elegant celebration hall at the House of Justice in Tbilisi, making it an ideal option if you are visiting for a short weekend trip and want to make the moment truly special.
I will book the most suitable time slot in advance so that your ceremony runs smoothly and without scheduling issues. If you would like to add a few special touches, I can also arrange bridal makeup and hairstyling, a bridal bouquet, a groom’s boutonniere, and a wedding photo session.
Consular legalization of a Georgian marriage certificate for the UAE
Consular legalization is a key step in the entire process. The original Georgian marriage certificate is officially legally valid only within Georgia. For your marriage to be fully recognized by government authorities in the United Arab Emirates, the document must undergo full consular legalization.
I take care of the entire process for you:
- Full assistance without your presence: You do not need to stay in Georgia, visit different government offices, or wait in queues. Once your marriage is registered, you can return home to the UAE without any additional formalities.
- Personal handling of every stage: I personally submit your documents to the Georgian House of Justice, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), and the UAE Embassy, monitor the entire process, and make sure all required stamps and certifications are obtained.
- Clear timeframe: The entire procedure takes 8–10 business days.
- Delivery directly to you: Once all legalization procedures are complete, I will send your marriage certificate by express courier to any location in the UAE.
You receive a fully legalized document that can be presented to UAE authorities and institutions, from immigration authorities (GDRFA/ICP) to banks and employers.
